Who We Are

FHLBank San Francisco is a cooperatively owned wholesale bank and a steadfast partner for 336 financial institutions of all sizes. We provide ready access to competitively priced liquidity, expert financial services, and essential resources for community and economic development.

Working alongside our members and their partners, we are dedicated to promoting homeownership, increasing access to quality affordable housing, and fostering economic growth and stability.

Our grant programs can help close persistent resource gaps in the communities our members serve. FHLBank San Francisco’s Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grants help to ensure that people in need can have an affordable place to call home. Matching downpayment grants from our first-time homebuyer programs enable families and individuals to put down roots. Our economic development grants support local nonprofits, agencies, and associations in providing vital economic and social services in underserved communities.

“There is nothing that compares to getting someone into their first home, and that’s our focus every day. We knew the Middle-Income Downpayment Assistance program would significantly impact many families, and it was thanks to the FHLBank of San Francisco that we were able to help 20 Nevada homebuyers access $1 million in grants to own their first home.”
