2016 AHEAD Program: Awards Announced!
On September 7, 2016, the Bank announced that a total of $1.5 million in AHEAD grants have been awarded through 28 Bank members for 51 innovative economic development projects and housing initiatives. The grants will support nonprofit efforts to address pressing community development issues, including job training and financial education for underserved communities, technical assistance and capacity building for community development organizations, microlending and small business incubation for low-income entrepreneurs, and the special needs of at-risk youth, veterans, persons with disabilities, and the formerly incarcerated.
2016 AHEAD Program Grant Recipients (updated 11/16)
Applications for the 2017 AHEAD Program will be available during the 2nd quarter of 2017.
Only Bank members may submit applications for AHEAD grants. During the annual application period, members working in partnership with community-based nonprofit organizations may apply for grants for specific projects, which must be located in Arizona, California, or Nevada. Interested nonprofits should contact a Bank member early in their planning process about partnering on an application. To learn more about program eligibility and requirements, review the AHEAD Program Profile, AHEAD Program Application (for reference only), and AHEAD Program Agreement.
The member submits a disbursement request, with complete information and all required documentation, via a secure portal hosted by WatchDox. Once a workspace on the secure portal has been created and access granted, please review the How to Upload AHEAD Documents instructions. When all disbursement documents have been uploaded to the appropriate folders, notify the bank at email@example.com.
Bank members must submit the following disbursement documents via the secure portal:
- AHEAD Program Agreement
- AHEAD Program Certification and Disbursement Request
- AHEAD Program Budget Workbook
Funds will be provided through a grant to the member. The member must request disbursement of the grant by the last business day of the calendar year following the effective date of the AHEAD Program Agreement executed by the member and the project sponsor. The member must disburse the funds to the project sponsor within 30 days of receipt of funds from the Bank. The grant is not an indebtedness of the member or the project sponsor and will not be secured by a retention mechanism. Grant funds must be used within 18 months of the effective date of the award, or may be subject to recapture or repayment.
Annual Project Status Reports for AHEAD Grant Recipients
Within 18 months of notification of the AHEAD award, the project sponsor is required to provide the member and the Bank with a one-time Project Status Report outlining the status of the project. The report must include financial statements or other documentation showing expenditures of the grant funds and explain any significant variances to the proposed use of the grant, as stated in the application. The report must include an updated AHEAD Program Budget Workbook.
The member submits the compliance documents, with complete information and all required documentation, via a secure portal hosted by WatchDox.
