Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco’s Board of Directors
Appoints New Member to Affordable Housing Advisory Council
San Francisco—The Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco has appointed Jack D. Gardner, President and CEO of The John Stewart Company, to its Affordable Housing Advisory Council (AHAC). The AHAC is a 15-member group that advises the Bank on affordable housing and economic development issues throughout the 11th District.
Mr. Gardner oversees all project acquisition, rehabilitation, development, refinancing, management, consulting, and marketing activities undertaken by The John Stewart Company, which manages over 24,000 housing units throughout California and is the largest independent manager of affordable housing in the state. He has been involved in the financing, development, and management of affordable housing since 1985. Mr. Gardner’s professional background includes the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. He has served as Senior Housing Development Analyst for the City of Santa Monica, Southern California Program Manager for the Low Income Housing Fund, founding Executive Director of the Hollywood Community Housing Corporation, Executive Director of Resources for Community Development in Berkeley, and Acquisitions Director for Edison Capital Housing Investments. He is a member of the Local Advisory Committee of the Bay Area LISC Program, the Editorial Advisory Board of Affordable Housing Finance magazine, and the boards of the California Housing Consortium and the Downtown Berkeley YMCA. Mr. Gardner is a Political Economics graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
