Senior Derivatives Analyst
Department: Portfolio Operations
Title: Senior Derivatives Analyst
Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience.
Purpose
Supports the Controller’s Derivatives Operations area by analyzing complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. Accountable for critical derivatives documentation and derivatives collateral functions.
Major Accountabilities

Develop a thorough understanding of the business processes and information processing requirements of Derivative Operations to support the derivatives documentation and derivatives collateral functions. As needed, step in as a coordinator for daily and month end assignments.

Support the monitoring of derivative counterparty credit exposure, including communication with counterparties, analyzing and approving collateral transfers, and evaluating impact of market interest rates or other factors on the Bank’s exposure to derivatives counterparties.

Support execution of derivative legal contracts in compliance with ISDA standards and the Bank’s Risk Management and Financial Management Policies.

Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and controls to ensure that internal controls are adequate and functioning properly.

Act as a business lead on decision support application projects.

Act as a business liaison or project team member on technology initiative projects.

Work directly with the technology department to ensure that required system modifications and enhancements are defined, prioritized, and completed in a timely manner.

Document the business requirements for replacement or upgrades to existing system.

Generate testing approach and plans for new systems or system enhancements.

Assist with the performance of user acceptance test of back office system processes for new products, new systems or system enhancements.
Skills/Knowledge
-
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent required. Prefer an emphasis in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Three to five years of broad-based experience working with financial products and an understanding of financial products that includes bonds, loans, mortgage products and derivatives.

Practical work experience in accounting, financial analysis, or financial system applications in banking or financial services company preferred.

Prior experience with development of specifications for systems to meet business requirements and system implementation strongly preferred.

Ability to work independently or as a member of a cross-functional team.

Ability to operate PC-based software programs and automated database systems.

Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
